Fix Outlook Data File Cannot Be Accessed – Quick Fixes

To resolve the error 0x8004010F or which is also called as outlook data file cannot be accessed error, you need to first identify the current location of the default Outlook data file, and afterward create a new Outlook profile. To do this, take after these steps:

Step 1 : Locate the default Outlook data file

  1. Tap the Start button and afterward click Control Panel .
  2. In Control Panel, click Mail .
  3. In the Outlook Mail Settings exchange box, click Show Profiles . See the image: Show profiles
  4. Select the current Outlook profile, and after that snap Properties . See the image: Properties
  5. In the Outlook Mail Settings discourse box , click Data Files . See the image: Data files
  6. Select the Data File tab in the Account Settings exchange box , then note the name and path of the default data file for your profile (a check stamp will denote the default data file). See the image: Data file tab

Step 2: Create a New Outlook Profile

After you have annotated the name and path of the default data file for your profile, just tail one of the accompanying methods to create a new Outlook profile:

Method 1: Use the Automatic Account Configuration to create an IMAP or POP3 e-mail account.

Method 2: Manually create an IMAP or POP3 e-mail account.

  • Tap the Start button and after that snap Control Panel .

  • In the Internet Email Settings discourse box , type account information.
  • Snap Test Account Settings to verify the account.

Note: If you are unsure of your account information, contact your Internet Service Provider.

  • Select Existing Outlook Data Files , and after that snap Browse.
  • In the Open Outlook Data File discourse box , locate and select the previously identified Outlook Data file and Snap OK .
  • Snap Next .
  • In the Test Account Settings discourse box, click Close .
  • Snap Finish .

Step 3: Configure the new Outlook profile as the default profile

  • On the off chance that you want to set the new Outlook profile as the default, take after these steps:
  • On the General tab of the Mail discourse box , select Always use this profile .
  • Tap the drop-down menu in Always Use this profile , and after that select the new profile.
  • Snap OK to close the Mail exchange box.

Point to Remember: If you have non-default .pst files and you need to include them in the Outlook profile, take after these steps:

  1. Start Outlook.
  2. On the File tab , click Open .
  3. Select Open Outlook Data Files .
  4. Locate the location of the folder that contains the other .pst file, select it, and afterward click OK .
  5. The newly added .pst file will appear in the navigation pane.
